Proof: God loves quilts

God. has. a. longarm... ?

I read "God has a longarm" and just.

stopped.

I confess: My first thought was.. maybe He'll let me use it. Then suddenly, I caught on.

-sigh-

No quilting done today, but considering the above, maybe that's for the best :)

Off the shelf, into the machine...

When I first began quilting again, I purchased a kit from my local shop, and due to the precedence of other projects, it's been sitting on the shelf.

Here's a preview

While the kit isn't available any longer (that I know of..) You can still get the pattern from Moda. I'm sure it would look just as great with another fabric collection!

I've had the strips cut and sewn together for a couple months, but this week I started piecing it in earnest. Here's tonight's progress:

12 strips sewn, 27 to go!

I'm not quite 1/3 of the way through piecing the strips tonight.... One more would get me there, but I'm going to be good and pack it in for the night. So tempting to quilt all night!

I'm still debating which method of appliqué I'll use for the owl detail... I've done well at prepared edge appliqué, but I'm dying to try needle turn after watching some lessons on Craftsy. And, I've been considering night and day how I'll quilt it. Maybe a leafy pattern? Or some swirls and flowers? Any ideas?

Maybe it'll come to me in a dream!

Until next time - Happy Quilting!

Step Down... MOO!

Recently, I've been quilting like crazy.  I tried a new technique called "step down piecing" and found it fun, and fascinating, and really, not that complicated.  I love a scrappy quilt, and so I signed up for Sarah Fielke's Big Techniques From Small Scraps on Craftsy.com  It was there I discovered this fancy new technique, and I must say, I highly recommend it!  I have been in love with Moda's Oink-a-doodle-moo since I first laid eyes on it, and when I saw this, I knew it was what I wanted to do.

Here's an afternoon's progress!

This quilt is going to a sweet little boy, who has not yet made his appearance in the world.  I hope he loves this quilt as he grows up!

Another experiment of late is free motion quilting on my hearty old Pfaff 1222... I'm getting better & better at it, which makes me SO happy :)

Quilting - In progress

Here's a few shots of the finished quilt!

All rolled up and ready to go!

Happy Quilting!
